This is because most modern brake pad manufacturers place metal ridges at the bottom of the brake pad that produce a sound to alert the diver that it’s time to replace their brakes.

Vibration 

The second way to determine if it might be time to replace your brake pads is if you’re experiencing a vibrating brake pedal. If it’s becoming increasingly difficult to stop your car or if it feels unsteady as you press down, this means that your brake pads have worn out or even possibly warped. 

Your Brake Pads Appear Less Than A ¼ Inch Thick

Another easy way to tell if it’s time to replace your brake pads is to look at them. If you can locate the brake pad on the tire’s rotor and they appear less than a ¼ inch thick, they need to be replaced soon.

You Have a Warning Light

In some modern vehicles, a sensor on the brake pad monitors the level of wear. Once it reaches a certain point, the sensor triggers the light on the dashboard to come on. If this occurs, you might have time left, but you should consider replacing your brakes as soon as possible.
